Maria Tarrence is a fine art and personal property appraiser and founder of New York City based firm Capital Art Group. She is Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) with the American Society of Appraisers. Maria is also designated with the Appraisal Review & Management (ARM) credential for reviewing appraisal reports. Additionally, Maria is Accredited Member with both the International Society of Appraisers and the Appraisers Association of America. Maria served as two-term President (2022 - 24) and three-term Treasurer (2019 - 2022) of the New York City Chapter of the American Society of Appraisers. She is currently a Member-At-Large of the Personal Property Discipline Committee of the same.
Maria founded Capital Art Group in 2022. She offers fine art and personal property appraisals for insurance scheduling, damage and loss claims, estate planning, estate taxes, charitable contribution, equitable distribution, dissolution of marriage, financial planning, and more. Maria offers appraisal reviews with and without opinions of value and litigation support services for fine art and personal property cases.
Mrs. Tarrence began a career in fine arts when she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Art and Graphic Design and a Master of Arts degree in Art History. Her professional background includes positions in academia, auction, advisory, and appraisals. She received extensive training and is credentialed with three professional personal property appraisal organizations including ASA,AAA, andISA.
Maria’s education and experience enable her to address appraisal and appraisal review assignments of varying complexity in a thorough, professional, impartial, and objective manner.
All appraisal and appraisal review reports are written in compliance with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), which is the standard of care for the appraisal profession promulgated by the Appraisal Standards Board of The Appraisal Foundation.
